ASIRT is delighted to have been awarded a grant of £72,206 over the next three years from Lloyds Bank Foundation for England and Wales, to help strengthen our support for asylum seekers and undocumented migrants across the West Midlands.
The funding will allow ASIRT to recruit a part-time Manager (3 days per week), and to improve our case management system. Dave Stamp, our existing Project Manager (who also is our casework lead and immigration specialist) will be moving to the post of Senior Caseworker, allowing him to focus on delivering advocacy, advice and legal services to clients, carrying out work to influence policy, and supervising casework.
The funding represents a continued investment in ASIRT by the Foundation. We previously received a £10,000 grant from the Foundation in 2015 to develop a new business plan and improve our organisational structure to better target our work supporting the region’s vulnerable migrants. That funding has made significant changes to the way ASIRT works and its sustainability.
Paul Streets OBE, Chief Executive, Lloyds Bank Foundation for England and Wales said: “With poverty and disadvantage high and rising, local charities like ASIRT are on the front line in their communities offering help to people who need it most. We are proud to be able to fund ASIRT, whose work supporting vulnerable migrants is life-changing. We look forward to supporting them as they continue to make a lasting impact in 2018 and beyond.”
We’re extremely grateful to Lloyds Bank Foundation for supporting us to improve our services for some of the region’s most vulnerable migrants and their children. The people we work with are innovative, resilient and have amazing potential. We hope we can help them to move on to better lives and ultimately achieve that potential.
ASIRT is one of 8 charities in the West Midlands supported in Lloyds Bank Foundation’s latest funding round, which awarded £570,792 across the region, tackling issues such as unemployment, domestic violence and addiction.
Lloyds Bank Foundation for England and Wales is one of the UK’s leading community grant-makers, committed to tackling disadvantage through small and local charities.
