Manager, ASIRT (Asylum Support and Immigration Resource Team)
ASIRT is seeking to appoint an experienced and dynamic manager with the ability to develop and deliver high quality services for vulnerable clients. This is an exciting, creative and challenging role for someone with significant management experience and a strong commitment to excellence, justice, and a firm belief in the rights of migrants and refugees.
Key facts about the post:
Annual salary: £33,400 pro rata (£20,040 for 3 days per week)
Pension: Employers’ contribution 2% (rising to 3% from April 2019)
Hours: 21 hours per week (3 days)
Holidays: 33 days per year pro rata (19.8), including bank and public holidays
Reporting to: Board of Trustees / Management Committee
Responsible for: Project and Service Leads, Administrative staff, Volunteers
Length of contract: Funding for this post is initially 3 years.
Subject to successful delivery of the funding agreement, ASIRT is eligible to apply for a further 3 years’ funding from Lloyds Bank Foundation for England and Wales. In addition, ASIRT’s board of Trustees would support a Manager with commitment and a proven track record at ASIRT to seek funding to extend both the length and hours of the role where there is evidence that this meets the needs of ASIRT.

ASIRT is a small, experienced team working in a challenging environment. We provide prompt, independent advocacy support throughout the West Midlands for vulnerable and undocumented migrants and refugees. We submit representations to the Home Office, provide advice and advocacy support, influence policy, and run a specialist support service for children and young people, funded by BBC Children in Need. ASIRT has a strong reputation for high-level legal work and our clients are at the heart of everything we do. Our Manager will play a key role in developing and promoting ASIRT’s work, improving outcomes for clients, motivating and leading our team, and driving excellence.
You will have a proven track record of managing and developing services and people, and successful experience of financial administration. You will have excellent project, service, and people management skills, a keen eye for detail and significant experience of managing charitable services.
You will have a clear understanding of the needs of children and young people, a strong belief in children’s rights, and experience of safeguarding for children and vulnerable adults. You will be a strong and creative strategic thinker, used to working on your own initiative and motivating those around you to achieve their best.
Funding for this post is initially 3 years. This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and all convictions, spent or unspent, must be declared. An Enhanced DBS check will be undertaken.
